At the beginning of the fall television season I
noticed that rape jokes seemed to be flowing in abundance. From side swipes
on House to overtly offense antics on Two and Half Men, It was apparent to me that writers were a.) becoming less
creative by the millisecond or b.) Prime time television works on a
fashion-esque forecasting system.
I have been meaning to write a post about my
observations but instead, I wrote them off as just another bout
of hypersensitivity and trailed along through another long semester, to
come home and force out laughter over jokes I don’t actually think were funny.
But to my surprise I'm not the only person whose picked up on
this heinous trend. Jezebel Published
an article this week bringing attention to the issue; accompanied by
a fantastic montage from the New York Times appropriately named
"This Seasons Many Rape Jokes on TV." Enjoy.
